Milwaukee’s Best Picture Perfect Locations

by Allysha Noelle Photography

Are you getting married in Milwaukee, and wondering what locations would be “picture perfect” for your wedding day? Look no further, here are a few of my suggestions and tips thrown in as your local Milwaukee wedding photographer.

Bright Prep Room with Natural Light

While not technically an official location, choosing the right bridal prep room can make all the difference in prep and detail photos. Bright rooms with light-colored walls and plenty of natural light are KEY! They provide a gorgeous backdrop to show off all the fun of getting ready images. I highly recommend you reserve a spot near a window for your photographer and attempt to keep this area as clutter-free as possible!

Lake Michigan Lakefront

The gorgeous lakefront is a popular photo location with a ton of variety. It offers a brilliant view of the city skyline including the Milwaukee Art Museum on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. It is also located directly next to Discovery World.

Discovery World

The best part of Discovery World is its reflective wall of windows and white pergola-covered sidewalks. There are picture-perfect backdrops at every turn.

Milwaukee Art Museum (Orange Statue)

Milwaukee’s orange statue, officially named “The Calling” is a Milwaukee landmark, and features views of both the Milwaukee skyline and the bridge leading to the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Milwaukee Art Museum

The Milwaukee Art Museum itself features Milwaukee’s most unique and easily identifiable architectural feature the Burke Brise Soleil or “wings”. They are an eye-catching backdrop to any wedding day photo. The Milwaukee Art Museum also offers patio space and lakefront views.

Lake Park

Lake Park includes a stunning curved staircase, beautiful nature paths, and a small waterfall feature. It is a great location for large groups.

Historic Third Ward

If you are hoping for an urban Milwaukee downtown feel for your wedding images, The Historic Third Ward is a must-stop. From skyscrapers to fun urban sculptures and the Milwaukee Public Market, you’ll find it all here.

Milwaukee Riverwalk

Located within the Historic Third Ward, the Milwaukee Riverwalk offers river views as well as city skylines. You can even find shade under the highway overpasses on those hot sunny summer wedding days.

The Brewery District

With the historic Pabst Sign and gorgeous stone buildings, The Brewery District is a charming place to stop for a few urban images and a great place to grab a beer!

Swing Bridge & Park

Looking at the possibility of a rainy wedding day? Swing Bridge is one of my favorite stops! This gorgeous covered bridge is located directly on the waterfront and protects you from the elements.

Golden Hour

My favorite time of day for wedding portraits is during golden hour! It is the window of time immediately before sunset, where the sun is at its most golden and flattering. The images taken during this time often display warm golden tones and a few sunbursts.

Top of Parking Garage

As the end of golden hour approaches, finding the roof or top of a parking garage is an excellent place to be. With the flattering light of sunset and beautiful views of the city, the top of a parking garage is simply magic!

City Lights at Night

Wrap up your evening portraits by finding the city lights at night! Using flashes, these images display the city lights as well as your love!

Your Favorite Bar

If you are looking to capture the party and joy of your wedding, your favorite bar just may be the best place to stop. Joined by your favorite people, your favorite bar is a great place to illustrate the fun of your wedding day!

Your Hotel Lobby

Probably one of the most underrated photo locations on your wedding day is your hotel lobby. They often display unique lighting and structural elements that make for a perfect spot for photos!
